Q.  I am in Costa Rica. How can I pay my Premium?
A. We have several methods of payment.

  1. Bank account deposit or Transfer. go

Q. I am currently NOT in Costa Rica, How can I pay my Premium?
A. We offer several methods of payment from abroad. 

  • Bank Transfer from a bank in Costa Rica. go

Can I set up an automatic charge on my credit card?

A. Yes, if you fill out this form online or this form and send it to us by e-mail or fax, we can set up an automatic charge on your credit card.

Q. How will I know how much to pay, and when?
A: You will receive a notice during the month prior to your due date. We will send it to you in the following way (in order):

  • Email, if we have a valid email address on record, or
  • Fax, if we have a valid fax number on record, or
  • The Costa Rican Postal system (Correos).

Q. What if I don't get notified about an upcoming premium due?
A: It is a good idea to keep a note about your insurance due dates on your calendar. If for some reason you do not get a notification by a week before your premium is due, please call our office at 2233-2455 and ask about it. While on the line, you can verify that we have your correct contact information.

Q. Where can I Pay?
You can pay at any of the following places:

  • Garrett & Associates offices:

Q. Can I pay my policy in advance?
A: Yes. If you are going to travel and need to pay your policy in advance, there are two options:

  • You can fill out this form online. We will pay when the premium comes due.
  • Check: You can sign a check in the name of INS with the amount in blank. On the renewal date we will fill in the amount and send the payment to INS.

Q: Can you send a collector?
A: Yes, Garrett & Associates has a collector that covers the Metropolitan Area. If you wish to have your premium collected, please call and ask for it at least 3 working days before grace period expiry date.

Q: What is the Grace Period?
A: The grace period is an extension period for payment after the due date of the policy. However, during this period modifications to the policy are not allowed. The grace period is calculated in working days starting from the policy expiration date according to the following table:

    * Annual policies: 20 days of grace
    * Semiannual policies: 10 days of grace
    * Quarterly policies: 5 days of grace
    * Monthly policies: no grace period

Q: Which policies have sales tax?
A: All policy types have the 13% sales tax except personal policies. The INS defines Personal policies as life insurance, medical insurance and workers' compensation insurance.

Q: My contact information has changed. How do I inform you of the new information?
A: You can use this form on our website or you can send us an email at info@segurosgarrett.com. As a last resort, you could always pick up the phone and call us at 2233-2455.

We have two options for payment by credit card over the phone

  • You may call us directly 2233-2455.
  • You may also phone the INS directly to pay through their call center 800-835-3467

Payment By mail from outside Costa Rica
Send check in the name of "INS" to our address in Miami. It must be sent at least 10 days before the grace period expiring date. We can't be responsible for late mail, so the earlier you send it, the better.
